I was trying to put my finger on the difference between the '70s and the '80s and I found the perfect analogy in the Facts of Life.
the 70s were the earth-tones of Edna's Edibles. Then suddenly, the 80s came on like the day-glo neon of Over Our Heads. Like a phoenix from the ashes.
