I'm inclined to believe his shtick would go over a little better now in this post-The Darkness world.

Ah, inauguration day.
It's funny how, in Civil War terms, the blue states and the red states represent pretty much the geographic separation of North vs South (the North maintained the West Coast), only the sentiment has completely switched sides.
They're now hardcore "support what the federal govt says!" and the blue states are now, "We obviously don't agree politically, just let us break away and start our own damn country".
